MInT – IIT Madras was pleased to host Ms. Sutapa Choudhury, British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Sam Prasanth Kumar, Senior Advisor, and Ms. Innocentia Atchaya, Digital Communications Officer from the British High Commission during their visit for discussions on the UK PACT Digi-PULSE project focused on climate-responsive and data-driven urban mobility planning in Thoothukudi.
The project progress and implementation updates under the UK PACT Digi-PULSE initiative were presented by Ms. Gayathri Rajamanickam from the lead organization, along with Mr. Sooraj E M representing the consortium partners. Additional technical insights, demonstrations, and project updates were shared by the broader project team and consortium members during the interaction.
Discussions highlighted ongoing work on:
🚦 Digital Twin development for urban mobility planning
📹 AI-based traffic monitoring and analytics
🚌 GPS-enabled public transport tracking
🌱 Air quality sensing and environmental monitoring
📊 Integrated real-time mobility data platforms for evidence-based decision-making
These initiatives aim to support evidence-based urban planning and sustainable mobility interventions.
The delegation also visited the air quality sensor installation within the IIT Madras campus to understand the sensor deployment, observe the monitoring setup, and view how the collected data is integrated and visualized through the dashboard.
🌍The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss implementation progress, stakeholder collaboration, pilot opportunities, and the role of technology-enabled solutions in building climate-resilient and people-centric cities.
